Playing the J
- Know your two-letter J words. JO works in both the UK and the US lists; JA is Collins only. They are the quickest way to play the J beside an O or A.
- J nearly always starts a word. Look for an open lane where a word can begin, rather than a hook at the end.
- Use the three-letter words ending in J, such as HAJ, RAJ and TAJ, when the only space is at the end of a row.
- A blank can stand in for J, but it scores 0. If you hold the real tile, put it on a premium square.
